The Short Version:

I love to cook, but I love to eat more. Luckily I get to do both for a living.

The Longer Version:

I wish I had started to blog about my culinary adventures sooner. If you ask my high school friends, they’ll tell you I wouldn’t stop talking about food as early as the 9th grade. It wasn’t until 8 years later I fed my passion in San Francisco at Culinary School. And now, 8 years since Culinary School, I am immortalizing all my food adventures on this blog. I have always loved to cook and entertain for my friends and family, but never thought of it as a career until after college. Thankfully I have found my knowledge and love for food a lot more useful in daily life than my degree in Anthropology!

Since culinary school I have worked as a Chef for a small Cuban cafe, as an Event Planner for a catering company, as a Front of House Manager for an upscale California Cuisine restaurant, and most recently as a Catering Chef for a locally owned restaurant and catering company in my hometown of Reno, NV. After living in San Francisco, Portland, and Denver, it has been an interesting transition moving back to Reno. Since the food scene here is much smaller, it has fueled me to cook more at home and experiment with new cuisines and ingredients. My background in cooking however, still lies in lighter, healthier dishes that use seasonal ingredients as much as possible. In this blog you will find my triumphs and failures with new recipes, rants and raves about the culinary world, and most likely what I am putting in my mouth on a daily basis.

  1. I just read your introduction, and I wish you good luck in this new venture. The recipes I have seen so far look great! Good luck.
I cook a lot with the silicone bakeware from Demarleathome
( http://shop.demarleathome.com/categories/1039622269-flexipan-molds/products). You may want to check it out. It will help you cook things faster, and you will end up saving money by using the silpat over the parchment paper.

  2. Hi,

I found your blog when searching for cookie delivery in Reno and I got sucked in. Wow, your coconut macaroons looks delicious. Does your catering company take small orders for delivery? Like your friend, I’m trying to find someone to deliver a small batch of cookies (or something) to a friend staying in a hotel in Reno next week and I’m not having much luck. The only thing I’ve found so far is a company that will deliver a dozen cupcakes. Since I’m trying to give a nice surprise for just one person (as opposed to diabetes), a dozen cupcakes just seems like too much.
Thanks, and good luck! Your blog is great!

    • Hi Terri. Thanks for reading and for the compliments! Unfortunately I’m not doing any private catering at the moment. I’m taking the year off since having my first child. I would recommend Homage Bakery in Reno for baked goods and cookies. If you try calling them they may do something. They are located downtown near the casinos.
